"The years went by, and Mary Alice and I grew up, slower than we wanted to, faster than we realized."  What do you think Joe meant by this statement?

I think Joe ment that they wanted to grow up fast, but then when they where grown than they realized that the years had gone by faster than they thought.A.Y.

I think he meant that they wanted to stay with the old Mary Alice than the new one.  She grew up fast before they had realized. M.B

What I thnik Joe meant by this statement is, him and Mary Alice thought that their age was going slow.But they let there age slip through their hands and they didn't relize it.D.C.

I think it means that they were always bored or did not like the activities they had to do, but they were growing up so fast and they did not realize it. N.H.

I think Joe means that Mary Alice and him are not growing up as fast as they wanted to.  He also means that he and Mary Alice are growing up faster than they expected. L.H.

I think Joe meant that the years went by really fast, and they didn't notice that they were growing up so fast to. That is what I think Joe meant.C.F.
