How did Joe get his two dollars to take the driving lesson in the Terraplane car?

The way Joe got the two dollars is because Effie Wilcox gave it to him and his sister. A.Y and M.B.

I agree with D.C. partly.  Effie Wilcox did not actually give Joe 2 dollars, she was just the one who got him it.  Mr.Weidenbach was the one who had to give them the 2 dollars out of his wallet and then Joe used those 2 dollars to learn how drive.  Oh, and Mary Alice got 2 dollars also. N.H.

I also agree whith every one exept D.C.  so I think that Mr. Weidenbach gave them the $2.  I have a math question for you all, the guy gave both of them a total of $4 so if Marry Alice spent 5 cents how much would thare be left?  K.S.
